A flat at midnight, a blowout on a Sunday, a nail in the tread before an early start. Rescue Tyres runs a genuine 24 hour mobile service: we come to your home, work or a safe roadside stop, repair the tyre where the damage allows, or fit a new one from the van.
Tyre trouble does not keep office hours, so neither do we. One call covers both sides of an emergency: a proper repair to BS AU 159 where the puncture sits in the repairable part of the tread, or a new budget or premium tyre fitted and balanced on the spot where it does not. Nights, weekends and bank holidays are all covered, subject to a van being free.
From the first call to driving away, this is what happens on a 24 hour or emergency callout.
Tell us where you are, what has happened and the size printed on the tyre sidewall, for example 205/55 R16. If you cannot read it in the dark, send a photo on WhatsApp and we will work it out.
We check where you are, give you a realistic arrival time and confirm the full price, which is the same at any hour, before anyone sets off. There is no deposit to pay.
The van carries a jack, a torque wrench, balancing kit, a full puncture repair kit and new tyres in common sizes. The fitter inspects the damaged tyre, explains what can be done and does it there.
The wheel goes back on, the nuts are torqued to the manufacturer setting, pressures are set and the old tyre is taken away if it was replaced. You pay once the work is finished.
If you would rather not talk on the phone at 3am, the online booking form works around the clock and we call back to confirm. Less urgent jobs, such as a slow puncture you have noticed on a Saturday evening, can be booked the same way for a visit when the diary allows.
The fitter decides on the spot, based on where the damage is and what the tyre has been through. Both options travel on the van, so where your size is on board the decision does not mean a second visit.
Where a nail or screw has gone through the central three-quarters of the tread, the hole is no bigger than 6mm and the tyre has not been driven on flat, we repair it to BS AU 159. The wheel comes off, the tyre comes off the rim, the inside is inspected and a combined plug and patch is fitted from the inside. It is a permanent repair, not a temporary plug pushed in from the outside, and the wheel is rebalanced before it goes back on.
Puncture repair →If the damage is in the sidewall or shoulder, the tyre has been run flat, or the tread is already at or near the legal limit, a safe repair is not possible and we say so. The van carries new budget and premium tyres in common sizes, so where yours is on board a replacement is fitted, balanced and torqued in the same visit. For unusual sizes we confirm availability when you call rather than guessing.
Mobile tyre fitting →A blowout usually destroys the tyre and sometimes marks the wheel. We fit a new tyre and check the rim for damage before it goes back on. If the wheel itself is bent or cracked we tell you before fitting, because a new tyre on a damaged rim will not hold air and you would be calling us again by morning.
Burst tyre replacement →Anywhere a van can pull up safely: your driveway, a work car park, a supermarket car park, a side street or a lay-by well away from moving traffic. A driveway or a residential street is the easiest kind of job for us.
If you are on a motorway or a dual carriageway the rules are different. Nobody can fit or repair a tyre on a hard shoulder or in an emergency area, because those are for getting you out of a live lane, not for waiting for a fitter. Follow the Highway Code: if it is safe, get everyone out on the passenger side and behind the barrier (if not, stay belted in with hazards on), call National Highways or 999 if you are in danger, and arrange recovery to the nearest services, junction or place of safety. For a car park or a private road, tell us the level, the entrance and whether a barrier or a key code is involved, so the fitter is not stuck outside at 2am. For a residential street, a house number and which side the flat tyre is on is enough.
Rescue Tyres works from one base in Brent Cross, north-west London, with vans out across London, the Home Counties and the Midlands. How soon we reach you depends on the distance from Brent Cross: the further out, into Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire and the West Midlands, the longer it takes, and it also depends on the jobs already booked at that moment.
Rather than promise a number we cannot keep, we give you a realistic time when you call and update you if traffic changes it. At night the roads are quieter, but availability is confirmed at the time of the call. If we cannot get to you in a time that works, we say so straight away rather than leaving you waiting.
There are no surprises at the roadside, and the enquiry itself costs nothing.
We do not publish a price list because a 2am callout in Barnet is a different job from one in Banbury. Tell us where you are and what has happened and you will have a firm figure before we move.
Driving to a garage on a flat or badly damaged tyre can wreck a tyre that could have been repaired, and it can damage the wheel. It is also a legal risk. A tyre with a cut into the casing, a bulge or exposed cords is illegal to use, and GOV.UK's tyre rules carry a fine of up to £2,500 and three penalty points for each tyre.
