Book a rescueWhat to have ready when you call
A short call is usually enough for us to confirm the job and the price. It helps to have:
- Where the car is. A full address or postcode, or the road and nearest junction if you are out and about. On WhatsApp you can drop a location pin.
- The tyre size. It is on the sidewall: three numbers such as 205/55 R16, then a load and speed code such as 91V. Our guide to reading a tyre size shows where to look.
- What has happened. A slow puncture, a nail, a flat, a burst tyre, a bulge or a kerbed wheel. A photo of the tyre on WhatsApp helps us bring the right one.
- The locking wheel nut key. If it is missing, say so and we bring the locking wheel nut removal tools.
- Anything unusual. Run-flat tyres, a tyre pressure warning light, or a van or motorhome rather than a car.
What happens after you get in touch
We confirm the price for the tyre and the fitting before anyone sets off. There is no deposit and nothing to pay up front. We give you a realistic arrival time on the call, based on where the car is and the jobs already booked, and we tell you if that changes. When the fitter arrives they check the tyre and tell you plainly whether it can be repaired to the BS AU 159 standard or needs replacing, then fit and balance it where the car is parked. You pay once the job is done.
If you are calling from the roadside
Your safety comes first. On a motorway, leave the car by the nearside doors only if it is safe, get behind the barrier and call 999 if you are in danger, or National Highways on 0300 123 5000. We do not change tyres on a live motorway hard shoulder; once the car is somewhere safe off the motorway, we can come to you there. Our guide to staying safe on the hard shoulder covers the steps.
