When an M6 tyre is past saving, the car is often on its way somewhere important: a van with deliveries in Wolverhampton, a rep due in Cannock, a family heading north past Hilton Park. The damage may be a sidewall torn by debris near the M5 interchange, a tyre run flat into a Castle Bromwich side road, or a tread cut picked up on the Black Country section. When a tyre is wrecked after leaving at J2, the east side of Coventry is where the replacement goes on. Walsgrave Road and Sky Blue Way both carry the A4600 towards the centre, and Binley Road takes the A428 out through Hillfields and beyond. Name one of those roads and a side street, give us the size, and the stock is confirmed first.
With a long trip up from Brent Cross, one wrong tyre means a wasted journey, so the sidewall code is read back twice, run-flat letters included. On the call you are also asked about the tyre across the axle, since mismatched brands or tread depths can upset handling. The van then needs parking right beside the car, which the Great Barr retail parks off J7 or Hilton Park services provide.
