A flat on the M6 does not automatically mean a new tyre. Get yourself off the carriageway to somewhere safe, leave the tyre as it is and call us. A fitter comes out to where you have stopped, looks the tyre over and does the quickest safe fix, a repair if the damage allows it or a fresh tyre if it does not.
Nobody can tell you over the phone whether it can be mended, which is why we diagnose it on arrival. We check the tread, the sidewall and the rim right there beside the M6, tell you plainly what we have found and carry the tools to plug a simple puncture on the spot. About the M6

The M6 is the backbone of the Midlands motorway network, and our coverage runs from the Catthorpe Interchange round through Birmingham and the Black Country. It meets the M1 and A14 at Catthorpe, serves Coventry at junctions 2 to 3, runs over the elevated section and Spaghetti Junction through Birmingham at 4 to 8, and passes Walsall at 9 to 10 and Wolverhampton at 10a. I have a flat on the M6, will you repair it or fit a new tyre?
We decide once we have seen it, not before. A nail or screw in the main tread is usually a straightforward repair we do on the spot. A split sidewall, a bulge, a shredded tyre or a run-flat that has been driven on will need replacing, and we carry tyres on the van to do that where you have stopped.
Can you tell me over the phone if it can be mended?
Not honestly, no. Whether a tyre can be repaired depends on where the damage is and how bad it is, and that only becomes clear once a fitter has looked at the tread, sidewall and rim. That is why we diagnose it on arrival and give you a straight answer there and then.
Can I keep driving to get off the M6 first?
Only far enough to reach a safe place, and slowly. Ease off the power, hold the wheel straight and come off the carriageway at the next safe spot, an emergency area or a junction. Once you are clear of the traffic, stop and leave it. Driving any real distance on a flat wrecks the tyre and often the wheel too.
Where should I wait for you on the M6?
Somewhere well away from moving traffic. On a motorway that means an emergency area, a hard shoulder if there is one, or off at the nearest junction, never a live lane. Put your hazards on, and if it is safe stand behind a barrier rather than by the car. Tell us your direction of travel and the nearest junction so we head straight to you.
