On the M6 a missing locking key turns an ordinary puncture into a long wait. Locking key missing after coming off at J1 for Rugby? The Junction One Retail Park bays, the Rugby Central car park and the Rugby LTC car park, if the owner agrees, are all simple places to meet. Turn out the glovebox, the tool pouch and the recess under the spare first. If the key cannot be found, the fitter removes each locking nut with dedicated tools and fits a standard nut instead.
Hunt for the missing key before booking the long trip: the glovebox, a door bin and the recess around the spare are usual hiding places, and some fleet vans keep it on the ignition keyring. A key code card may allow a replacement. Keep the V5C or a fleet letter ready as proof. Extraction is done with care for the alloy, and new security nuts are worth considering if theft is a concern.
