A puncture on the A46 is rarely the end of the tyre. A screw or nail in the tread usually meets the British Standard for repairs, BS AU 159, which means an internal patch that holds for the life of the tyre and costs a fraction of a new one. We come to you on this A-road and mend it where you have stopped.
Get to safety before anything else. Pull into an emergency area, onto the hard shoulder or off at the next junction, put your hazards on and stand well back from live traffic while you call. We make our way out to you along the A46, take the wheel off and inspect the tyre from the inside.
A roadside repair only counts if it meets BS AU 159: the hole in the central three-quarters of the tread, under 6mm, and no sign the tyre has been run flat. If your damage is outside those limits we tell you and fit a replacement instead, so you never leave on a patch that could let go.

I am on the hard shoulder of the A46, what should I do?
Stay safe first. Get everyone out and behind the barrier, away from the live carriageway, and leave your hazards on. Then call us with your direction and nearest marker post on the A46. On a motorway, ring the emergency services too if you feel at risk before we arrive.
Can you repair a run-flat tyre after a puncture on the A46?
Only if it has not actually been driven on while flat. A run-flat that has run deflated may be damaged inside the reinforced sidewall. We inspect it at the roadside on the A46 and check the maker's guidance, and if it cannot be trusted we fit a replacement instead.
Will you have my tyre size on the van?
We carry a wide range of common sizes, so where a repair is not possible on the A46 we can often fit a replacement on the spot. Tell us the size on the tyre wall when you call and we will confirm what we can bring out to you.
Is it safe to drive slowly to a garage instead?
It is a false economy. Driving on a flat, even slowly, along the A46 ruins the casing and can damage the wheel, turning a repairable puncture into a new tyre. It is safer and cheaper to stop, get clear of the traffic and let us come to you.
