Broken Tyre Repair · A46

Damaged tyre sorted on the spot
on the A46.

Hit a pothole or run over debris on the A46 and a tyre can be ruined in an instant, often with no bang to warn you. Our mobile team comes out along A-road routes, checks the casing where you are, and tells you plainly whether it can be saved or has to be swapped.

Get yourself out of danger first. Pull onto the hard shoulder, into an emergency refuge, or off at the next junction if the car will still roll, and stand well back from the traffic while you call. Never inspect or change a tyre in a live lane on the A46, and if you feel exposed, ring the emergency services before anything else.

The verdict comes down to where the impact landed. A clean puncture in the tread can be repaired on the spot, but a split, bulge or blister in the sidewall or shoulder cannot, because that part flexes under load and no patch is rated to hold there at A-road speeds. You get the honest call before any work begins.

  • Roadside casing inspection after a pothole, kerb or carriageway debris strike
  • A straight repairable-or-replace verdict before any money is taken
  • Sidewall, shoulder and bulge damage judged honestly, never bodged over
  • We come to your safe spot near the A46, typically inside about an hour

About the A46

The road we cover.

The A46 links Coventry and the Warwickshire towns, much of it modern dual carriageway. It runs from the M6 near Coventry past Kenilworth, Warwick and Leamington Spa to Stratford-upon-Avon and Alcester. It is a fast ring and link route around the Warwickshire towns.

Wherever you've stopped along it, we assess the damage at the roadside and sort a repair or replacement, rather than have you drive on a tyre that could fail.

Stay safe first

Broken down on the A46?

If the tyre is damaged but still holding air, slow down and come off at the next junction. If it's deflating fast, treat it like a blowout and stop somewhere safe straight away.

A46 FAQs

Broken Tyre Repair on the A46, answered.

I ran over something on the A46 and the tyre is going down. What now?
Get to safety before you worry about the tyre. If the car still rolls, ease it onto the hard shoulder or off at the next exit, put your hazards on and stand clear of the traffic. Then call us. We come to your safe spot on the A46, usually within about an hour, and inspect the tyre where you are rather than leaving you exposed on the carriageway.
Can a tyre cut by debris on the carriageway be repaired?
If the object left a clean hole in the central tread and the rest of the casing is sound, we can usually plug and patch it on the spot and you keep the tyre. If the cut is in the sidewall or the shoulder, or the tyre has run flat and been damaged inside, it has to be replaced. We check it properly at your safe spot and tell you which it is before starting.
Why can't a sidewall cut be patched, even a small one?
The sidewall flexes with every rotation of the wheel, so it carries stress the tread never does. No plug or patch is rated to stay put in that flexing zone, and at A-road speeds a repaired wall could fail without warning. Even a small cut in the sidewall means a replacement tyre. It is a safety rule we hold to for every driver.
How do I book and pay?
There is nothing to pay up front to secure the callout. Send a quick request, it takes a couple of minutes, and we call you back to confirm the price and agree a time. The final price depends on whether the tyre is repairable or needs replacing, and we confirm it with you at the roadside on the A46 before we set off.
How quickly can you reach me on A46?
We aim to be with you within about an hour wherever conditions allow. Give us your direction of travel and the nearest junction or marker post so we can pinpoint you fast, and if you can safely read the tyre size off the sidewall, pass that on in case a replacement turns out to be the safer call once we see the damage.
