Many late-evening A46 problems are tyres that only need repairing. Hospital staff coming off shift at University Hospital walk out to a soft tyre; a Kenilworth resident spots a screw at 10 pm with an early M40 run from Longbridge planned; a Stratford visitor sees the warning light on returning to the hotel. Replacing the tyre would be a waste. What they want is a proper repair overnight, so tomorrow starts as planned.
Out of hours, the fitter works exactly as by day: tyre off the rim, inspection from inside, and a BS AU 159 patch-plug if the Walsgrave or Kenilworth hole is central and 6 mm or under. The wheel is rebalanced and refitted, and the Kenilworth or Walsgrave car can leave at dawn. Night pricing matches the day, and is named on the call, well before the fitter heads up the M40. Late repairs south of Coventry are best arranged in a village street rather than a lane beside the A46: Stoneleigh, Ashow and Bubbenhall all have places where a car can sit level. Give the house name or nearest junction, keep the hazard lights on, and the fitter inspects the tyre before deciding whether a repair is safe.
Out-of-hours repair has limits on the A46 as anywhere. Kerb damage from Stratford's tight roundabouts usually lands on the shoulder or sidewall, and those areas cannot be patched.
