Get yourself to safety first, an emergency area or off at the next junction, never a live lane, then call. We bring the kit to inspect and repair the tyre where it stands rather than leave you waiting for a garage to open.
The rule is the same at any hour. A repairable puncture is patched from the inside, the wheel rebalanced, and you are on your way. A cut sidewall or damage outside BS AU 159 gets an honest replacement instead. The price, including any small out-of-hours supplement, is agreed before we start, with nothing to pay up front.

What does a proper repair on A46 involve at night?
We take the wheel off, break the tyre down from the rim and inspect it inside for hidden damage, then fit a combined plug and patch from within and rebalance the wheel. It is the same full method at 3am as at midday, done wherever you have safely stopped on the A46.
Why not just use a sealant to get off A46?
A can of sealant or an external plug can hide a leak without proving the tyre is sound, so it is a get-you-home measure at best. On a fast A-road that is not a gamble worth taking, so we do the job properly from the inside where the damage is repairable, or fit a new tyre where it is not.
When would you replace the tyre instead of repairing it?
When the damage sits outside BS AU 159, a cut sidewall, a torn shoulder, or a tyre that has been driven flat. A patch there will not hold, so we tell you straight and fit a replacement. Read the tyre size off the sidewall when you call so we can bring the right one.
Is there an extra charge out of hours on the A46?
Night, weekend and bank holiday callouts carry a small out-of-hours supplement, made clear when you request the callout. There is nothing to pay up front, and you will know the full price, for a repair or a replacement, before any work starts.
How do I stay safe while I wait on A46?
Get clear of moving traffic first. Use an emergency area or the hard shoulder, or leave at the next junction, and never stay in a live lane. On a A-road stand behind the barrier if you can. If you cannot reach safety, call 999 or National Highways on 0300 123 5000, then ring us once you are safe.
