Everything a tyre bay has, in a van: changer, balancer, compressor and tyres. Park off the M5 in Oldbury, West Bromwich or at Frankley, and the car does not need to move again.
Wreck a tyre on the Black Country M5 and the car is stuck twice over. It cannot safely be driven to a garage in Dudley or West Bromwich, and towing it there costs time and money before anyone even looks at the wheel. A recovery truck will drop it in a car park off the junction, but that still leaves the problem of getting a tyre fitted without shifting the car again.
The van solves that. The fitter parks alongside, jacks the car on the level bay, uses the onboard changer to free the damaged bead, mounts the new one and spins the wheel on the balancer before torquing it back on. Valve, pressures and a look at the other tyres complete the job. What we need is room beside the car, the sidewall size and the locking key if there is one.
The van needs space beside the car: a trading estate off Birchley Island, a Longbridge town centre car park, a wide driveway, or Frankley services away from the pumps. Never the carriageway, and nothing past J4a until you are off it.

The van brings the workshop, but the ground has to suit it. Give the wheel a clear door's width beside it, park on level tarmac rather than a sloping bay, and make sure the van can stop without blocking a lane or another car. Staff bays on an Oldbury trading estate need the site's approval. The car is never towed or driven off, so nobody risks the Hagley Road on a bad tyre.
