Does driving on the flat change whether you can repair my tyre on M5?
Yes, a great deal. A puncture is most repairable the moment it happens, and every mile on a soft tyre breaks down the sidewall until a patch is no longer safe. Ease off to a safe place as soon as you notice it, and the chance of a repair rather than a replacement is far higher.
Can you really patch a puncture on the M5 in the small hours?
Yes. The repair service runs day and night, so a fitter can come out to the M5 at 3am just as readily as at midday. Provided you have stopped somewhere safe and the damage is repairable, we take the wheel off, patch it to BS AU 159 and rebalance it there and then, subject to a fitter being free.
