A kerbside fitting needs a clear strip beside the wheel and ground flat enough to jack safely, so a sloping verge will not do. The business parks by J8 at Hemel Hempstead, a bay at Northampton services or a Houghton Regis estate road off J11a usually offer that. In a private or permit bay, the owner's permission is yours to arrange. Nobody gets blocked in, and since the changer and balancer travel to wherever the M1 left you, the car is never shifted or towed.
