Puncture Repair · A1(M)

Puncture repaired safely off the carriageway
on the A1(M).

Many punctures on the A1(M) come from road debris and are a cheap fix, not a new tyre. We find the cause, repair it where it is safe to and tell you honestly if a replacement is the safer call.

Punctures on the A1(M) often come from debris thrown up around the Welwyn viaduct and tunnel around junction 4 and the M25 merge at South Mimms. Most are repairable if you stop before the tyre runs flat, so get to a safe spot and call us.

  • Repaired to BS AU 159: a proper internal patch, not a roadside plug
  • Honest assessment: we tell you if it is safe to repair or needs replacing
  • Wheel rebalanced: so you do not pick up a wobble at speed
  • Cheaper than a new tyre: where the damage allows a repair

About the A1(M)

The road we cover.

The A1(M) carries the Great North Road through Hertfordshire, from South Mimms to Baldock. It meets the M25 at South Mimms, serves Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield at junctions 3 to 4, Stevenage at 7 to 8 and Hitchin and Letchworth at 8 to 9. It is a busy commuter motorway feeding traffic between Hertfordshire and London.

Wherever you've pulled over along it, we come to you and repair the puncture at the roadside rather than have you limp on and ruin the tyre.

Stay safe first

Broken down on the A1(M)?

A slow puncture usually gives you a little time. Reduce speed, put your hazards on and come off at the next exit or into an emergency area rather than stopping in a live lane.

Get off the carriageway

Reach an emergency area, the hard shoulder or the next exit if you safely can, and put your hazards on.

Stand behind the barrier

Leave the vehicle on the passenger side and wait well back. In a live lane, call 999 or National Highways on 0300 123 5000.

Call us

Once you are safe, call and we will come to you on the A1(M) to puncture repaired safely off the carriageway.
