24 Hour Tyre Repair · A1(M)

24-hour tyre repair at the roadside
on the A1(M).

Caught with a puncture on the A1(M) at some unsocial hour? This is out-of-hours repair rather than an automatic new tyre. We come to wherever you have safely stopped, lift the wheel off, trace the leak and, where the damage sits inside the safe area, patch it to British Standard BS AU 159 so a 3am flat gets you rolling again without the cost of a replacement.

A nail or a shard of debris does not wait for the garages to open, and a great many motorway punctures turn out to be repairable if you catch them before the tyre runs flat. Reach somewhere safe first, an emergency area or off at the next junction, never a live lane, then call. We bring the tools to inspect and mend the tyre on the spot instead of leaving you parked until sunrise.

Every job follows the same honest rule. If the puncture is in the central tread and within the limits, we repair it properly from the inside, rebalance the wheel and send you on your way. If the sidewall is cut or the damage falls outside BS AU 159, we say so plainly and fit a replacement instead. Either way the price, including any small out-of-hours supplement, is agreed before we lift a spanner.

  • Repaired to BS AU 159 at any hour: a proper internal patch, not a temporary roadside plug
  • Genuine round-the-clock callouts: a fitter reaches you day or night on the A1(M)
  • Replacement only where it is unsafe: we never sell you a tyre the damage does not demand
  • Nothing to pay to book: most jobs done in around 60 minutes where possible

About the A1(M)

The road we cover.

The A1(M) carries the Great North Road through Hertfordshire, from South Mimms to Baldock. It meets the M25 at South Mimms, serves Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield at junctions 3 to 4, Stevenage at 7 to 8 and Hitchin and Letchworth at 8 to 9. It is a busy commuter motorway feeding traffic between Hertfordshire and London.

Wherever you've stopped along it, at any hour, we come to you and repair the tyre on the spot rather than leave you waiting until a garage opens.

A1(M) FAQs

24 Hour Tyre Repair on the A1(M), answered.

Does driving on the flat change whether you can repair my tyre on A1(M)?
Yes, a great deal. A puncture is most repairable the moment it happens, and every mile on a soft tyre breaks down the sidewall until a patch is no longer safe. Ease off to a safe place as soon as you notice it, and the chance of a repair rather than a replacement is far higher.
Can you really patch a puncture on the A1(M) in the small hours?
Yes. The repair service runs day and night, so a fitter can come out to the A1(M) at 3am just as readily as at midday. Provided you have stopped somewhere safe and the damage is repairable, we take the wheel off, patch it to BS AU 159 and rebalance it there and then, subject to a fitter being free.
What should I do to stay safe while I wait on A1(M)?
Get yourself and any passengers away from moving traffic first. Pull into an emergency area or the hard shoulder, or leave at the next junction, and never remain in a live lane. On a motorway stand behind the barrier. If you are stuck where you cannot move to safety, ring 999 or National Highways on 0300 123 5000, then call us.
Will an out-of-hours job on the A1(M) cost more?
There is a small out-of-hours supplement for nights, weekends and bank holidays, made clear when we call you back. There is nothing to pay up front, and you will know the price for a repair, or a replacement if one is needed, before we start.
How soon can a fitter get to me on the A1(M)?
We aim to reach you within about an hour wherever we can, with real 24-hour cover across the routes we serve. Give us your direction of travel and the nearest junction or marker post so we can find you quickly, and read out the tyre size in case a replacement turns out to be the safer call.
