Locking wheel nut removed at the roadside
on the M25.

A locking nut that has seized solid or rounded off can leave you stopped on the M25 with a wheel that simply will not come free. No amount of leaning on a normal socket will move it. We come to you, grip what is left of the nut with a dedicated extraction tool and draw it out without scoring the alloy, then change the tyre before you leave.

Corrosion and over-tightening are the usual reasons a nut rounds off. Once the corners are gone there is nothing for a standard socket to hold, which is why we carry extraction sets built for exactly that. They dig into the damaged nut and back it out steadily rather than cutting or drilling it away.

Move to a safe spot first, away from live lanes, then call and tell us your direction of travel and the nearest junction or marker. We give you a price up front, take nothing in advance so you pay only once the nut is out, and where the motorway is running freely we aim to reach you within about 60 minutes.

  • Seized and rounded nuts: extraction sockets grip where a normal one slips
  • No cutting or drilling: the alloy, stud and trim are left intact
  • One roadside visit: nut removed and wheel changed together
  • Clear price: quoted before we set off, nothing to pay up front

About the M25

The road we cover.

The M25 is the 117-mile orbital motorway that rings London through 31 junctions, including the Dartford Crossing in the east. It meets the M1 at junction 21, the M40 at junction 16, the M11 at junction 27, the M4 at junction 15, the M3 at junction 12 and the A1(M) at junction 23, so almost every long journey in and out of London touches it. It is one of the busiest and most congestion-prone motorways in Europe, carrying huge volumes of commuter and freight traffic around the clock.

Wherever you've stopped along it, we bring the extraction tools to you and get the wheel off, then sort the tyre in the same visit.

Stay safe first

Broken down on the M25?

A seized locking nut won't deflate your tyre, so there's no need to take a risk. Get to a safe spot, a services, junction or emergency area, and we'll come to remove it.

Get off the carriageway

Reach an emergency area, the hard shoulder or the next exit if you safely can, and put your hazards on.

Stand behind the barrier

Leave the vehicle on the passenger side and wait well back. In a live lane, call 999 or National Highways on 0300 123 5000.

M25 FAQs

Locking Wheel Nut Removal on the M25, answered.

How do you remove a locking nut on the M25 without the key or damaging the wheel?
We use extraction sockets that grip the nut itself and wind it out under control, whether the key is missing or the nut has seized. Because the tool works on the nut and not the wheel, the alloy and the stud are left intact once it is off, and we then change the tyre.
Is the whole job done in one roadside visit?
Yes. The fitter removes the locking nut, frees the wheel and changes or refits the tyre in the same stop on the M25. There is no tow to a garage and no second appointment, so you are back on the motorway as quickly as the job allows.
What should I do to stay safe while I wait on the M25?
Pull as far from moving traffic as you can, ideally into an emergency area or off at a junction, and never change a wheel in a live lane. Switch your hazards on, get everyone out on the side away from traffic, and wait behind a barrier where there is one.
What do you need to know when I call?
Your location on the M25 with a direction of travel and the nearest junction or marker, the make and model of the car, and whether the key is lost or the nut has seized or rounded. That lets us bring the right extraction kit and quote you before we set off.
How quickly can you get to me on the motorway?
Where the motorway is flowing freely we aim to be with you within about 60 minutes, with same-day and 24-hour cover. The nut removal and wheel change are done together on arrival, so the M25 does not hold you up any longer than it has to.
