Orbital commuters ordering tyres should copy the moulded code off the sidewall exactly, say 235/55 R18 104V: the 104 there sets the weight each tyre may carry and the V its top rated speed, and neither should drop below what the car left the factory on. Spot XL or a run-flat symbol like RFT. The pair on one axle wants the same brand and pattern. Hunt the locking key out of the glovebox now, then park on the Bromley drive or in the South Mimms car park at J23.
A run-flat warning between J23 and J27 is never a reason to stop in an emergency area for tyre work. Hold the speed and distance your handbook allows as far as South Mimms services at J23, or Cobham services between J9 and J10. Unable to move safely?
