Stuck by the M11 because of a locking nut? Our specialist tools get the wheel off without damage, then we sort the tyre.

Locking Wheel Nut Removal · M11

Locking wheel nut removed at the roadside
on the M11.

A locking wheel nut you cannot shift means the wheel will not come off, and on a road like the M11 that leaves you stopped where you least want to be. Whether the key is missing or the nut has seized, we reach you, remove it cleanly without marking the wheel, and change the tyre so you are back on the motorway rather than waiting on a tow.

The specialist kit is what makes the removal clean. The extraction socket grips the nut itself, not the wheel, and works it out under control, so the alloy face and the stud come through untouched. A standard nut then goes on and the wheel is changed on the spot.

Safety comes first on the M11, so pull well clear of moving traffic, switch your hazards on and stand back from the car before you ring. We confirm where you are on the M11, price the job before we head out, and take nothing up front, so you settle up only once the nut is out. Where traffic allows we aim to be with you inside the hour.

  • Missing-key or seized nuts: both removed cleanly at the roadside
  • Wheel protected: alloy face and stud left in the same condition
  • Rejoin the motorway sooner: nut and tyre sorted in one visit
  • Usually within the hour: nothing up front, pay once it is done

About the M11

The road we cover.

The M11 runs from the North Circular (A406) in east London up to Cambridge across junctions 4 to 14. It begins near Wanstead and Redbridge, climbs through Epping and Harlow and serves Stansted Airport at junction 8 near Bishop's Stortford. It is a fast commuter and airport route linking east London, Essex and Cambridgeshire.

Wherever you've stopped along it, we bring the extraction tools to you and get the wheel off, then sort the tyre in the same visit.

Stay safe first

Broken down on the M11?

A seized locking nut won't deflate your tyre, so there's no need to take a risk. Get to a safe spot, a services, junction or emergency area, and we'll come to remove it.

Get off the carriageway

Reach an emergency area, the hard shoulder or the next exit if you safely can, and put your hazards on.

Stand behind the barrier

Leave the vehicle on the passenger side and wait well back. In a live lane, call 999 or National Highways on 0300 123 5000.

M11 FAQs

Locking Wheel Nut Removal on the M11, answered.

I have lost the key for my locking wheel nuts. Can you still get the wheel off on the M11?
Yes. We do not need your key. Our master sets and dedicated extraction tools grip and back the nut out even when it is keyless, and we then change or repair the tyre before you leave. Nothing on the wheel is damaged in the process.
My key snapped while I was trying to loosen the nut. Does that change anything?
No. A snapped or worn key is treated the same as a lost one, since there is no longer a way to open the nut normally. We use an extraction socket that grips the nut itself, wind it out, and get you back on the motorway in the same visit.
Where should I wait for you if I am stuck on the M11?
Somewhere well clear of moving traffic. Use an emergency area or come off at a junction if you can, and never attempt a change in a live lane. Put your hazards on, stand back from the vehicle, then ring us with your direction of travel and the nearest marker or junction.
Will you leave me a usable nut after removing the keyless one?
Yes. Once the locking nut is out we can fit a standard replacement in its place, so the wheel is secured with something you can undo yourself later. If you would prefer to keep a locking set, we can talk that through at the roadside.
How long until you reach me and have the tyre changed?
Where the motorway is running freely we usually reach you within about 60 minutes, with same-day and 24-hour cover. Once we arrive, the nut removal and the wheel change happen together, so you are not stopped by the M11 any longer than needed.
