Late punctures around the M11 appear after long days and delayed flights: a nail found at the Stansted long-stay after a late landing, a warning light on the drive home through Epping Forest, a soft tyre spotted on a Loughton driveway. Left to leak until dawn, a tyre is often past saving, and no garage in Harlow or Bishop's Stortford will open early enough.
Pull over once the warning lights. At the kerb or in the bay, off comes the wheel and the lining gets examined, and a puncture of 6 mm or less near the middle of the tread gets a patch-plug to BS AU 159 before the wheel is refitted and torqued. If the damage rules out a repair, you are told plainly. The repair cost, unchanged at night, is confirmed by phone.
