The fitter needs room to kneel beside the wheel and set a jack on firm, level ground, with the van alongside and not across a mews entrance or garage door. A basement car park needs the porter's agreement and clear space around the bay. Resident and pay-by-phone bays across Earls Court and South Kensington suit it, and because the car never moves, the bay is kept. Cromwell Road is not usable.
