Business park construction traffic and farm vehicles crossing the A41 near Albrighton leave screws and flints where M54 commuters pick them up. The tell-tale is a pressure warning somewhere around RAF Cosford, or a faint pull as you reach J4. The encouraging part is that many of these holes land in the tread face, which is exactly where a proper repair is allowed, provided the tyre has not been run low for miles.
We take the tyre off, find the object and inspect the lining for the scuffing that comes from driving soft. A hole away from the shoulders of the tread and 6 mm across at most qualifies; the hole is cleaned out and a patch-plug bonded in from the inside.
