Nearly every house around the Bournville village green has a drive, and that is where its new tyres are fitted: Linden Road, Bournville Lane, Mary Vale Road. Stirchley staff use a side street.
Bournville wears tyres out gently. The estate's cars do school runs to the village, the Pershore Road crawl to town and the occasional M5 trip, so tread lasts for years and then two tyres come up together at the MOT. Stirchley is harder on them: kerbside parking on the A441, buses passing close, speed cushions on every road behind the shops. Whether the car lives on a Linden Road drive or outside a Stirchley terrace, it does not need to go anywhere to get its new pair.
A picture of the sidewall marking or the registration fixes the size. Three grades are offered, an economy tyre, a mid-priced one and a premium brand, and the price of each is spelled out by phone before you commit to anything. The fitter then arrives at the drive, removes the wheel, strips the worn tyre, fits the new one and balances it on the machine in the back of the van, refits it at the maker's torque setting and takes the old casing away for disposal.

Read a Bournville car's sidewall the way the fitter does: size first, then the load figure and speed letter trailing it. The replacement must match or exceed both, and any XL or run-flat marking carries over. Both tyres on an axle should share size and ideally pattern, so tell us what the partner wears. Say where the locking nut's key is, often the glovebox. Leave the car on its Linden Road or Bournville Lane drive with space down one side.

Turn into Linden Road or the parking at Bournville station, away from the Pershore Road bus stops, and call. The fitter inspects the tyre before advising a repair or a new run-flat.
