Broken Tyre Repair · A406

Damaged tyre sorted on the spot
on the A406 North Circular.

Hit a pothole or run over debris on the A406 and a tyre can be wrecked in an instant, often without a bang to warn you. Our mobile team comes out to you on A-road routes, checks the casing where you are, and tells you plainly whether it can be saved or has to be swapped.

First though, get yourself out of danger. Pull onto the hard shoulder, into an emergency refuge area, or off at the next junction if the car will still roll, and stand well back from the traffic while you call us. Never try to inspect or change a tyre in a live lane on the A406, and if you feel exposed, phone the emergency services first.

The verdict comes down to where the impact landed. A clean puncture in the tread can be repaired on the spot, but a split, bulge or blister in the sidewall or shoulder cannot, because that part of the tyre flexes under load and no patch is rated to hold there at A-road speeds. We give you the honest call before any work starts.

  • Roadside casing inspection after a pothole, kerb or carriageway debris strike
  • Straight repairable-or-replace verdict before any money is taken
  • Sidewall, shoulder and bulge damage judged honestly, never bodged over
  • We come to your safe spot near the A406, typically inside about an hour

About the A406 North Circular

The road we cover.

The A406 North Circular is north London's orbital route, running from Chiswick round to the A13 in the east. It passes Ealing, Wembley and Brent, Finchley, Wood Green and Tottenham and Walthamstow and Redbridge, meeting the M1, A1, M11 and A40 on the way. It is a heavily congested urban orbital carrying constant stop-start traffic.

Wherever you've stopped along it, we assess the damage at the roadside and sort a repair or replacement, rather than have you drive on a tyre that could fail.

Stay safe first

Broken down on the A406 North Circular?

If the tyre is damaged but still holding air, slow down and come off at the next junction. If it's deflating fast, treat it like a blowout and stop somewhere safe straight away.

A406 FAQs

Broken Tyre Repair on the A406 North Circular, answered.

I clipped a pothole on the A406 but the tyre still looks okay. Should I stop?
Yes, find a safe spot and have it checked. A pothole hit on a fast A-road can pinch the casing against the rim and leave damage on the inner wall that you simply cannot see from the driver's seat. Get onto the hard shoulder or off at a junction, then call us out. We inspect the whole tyre properly so a hidden weakness does not turn into a blowout further along the road.
Can you repair a tyre that hit debris or a kerb on the carriageway?
It depends entirely on where the damage sits. If a sharp object has left a clean hole in the tread and the rest of the tyre is sound, we can usually plug and patch it there and then. If the strike has reached the sidewall or torn the shoulder, or if there is now a bulge in the wall, the tyre has to be replaced. We assess it on the spot and tell you which it is.
Why is sidewall damage from a pothole never repairable?
The sidewall bends with every single wheel rotation, so it carries stress the flat tread never sees. There is no plug or patch rated to stay put in that flexing zone, and at A-road speeds a bodged wall can let go without warning. So a cut, split, bulge or blister in the sidewall always means a new tyre. It is a safety line we will not cross.
How do I book and pay?
There is nothing to pay up front. A free enquiry takes about two minutes, then we ring you back to confirm the price and a time. The final figure depends on whether it turns out to be a repair or a fresh tyre, and we confirm the price with you at the roadside before we set off.
Do you actually come out to me on A406?
That is the whole idea of the service. We are fully mobile and we reach you at your safe spot on or near the A406, whether that is the hard shoulder, an emergency area or a junction lay-by, usually within about an hour where conditions allow. It saves you limping along on a broken tyre or waiting for a tow to a distant garage.
