A lot of A41 tyre damage only reveals itself once the car is parked. Tight residential kerbs off Fitzjohn's Avenue, a pothole on a junction approach in Edgware, or debris struck on the Berkhamsted bypass can each leave a bubble on the sidewall, a slash across the tread or wire showing through. No repair can fix that, and taking such a tyre back onto Watford Way or a bypass invites a blowout.

A bubble, a deep cut or visible wire mean the car should not be driven at all, on the A41 or anywhere else. Broken tyres near Garston and Bricket Wood need moving off the A41 to a side road or estate. Colne Way Industrial Estate, Greycaine Industrial Estate or streets near Garston station are clear places to name.
