Back from a flight to a flat tyre in a Heathrow car park? The airport roads are private, so the car goes to a Harlington street first, and the fitter sorts it there.
Heathrow has its own flat-tyre hazards: a screw picked up on the M4 spur that empties the tyre over a week in an airport car park, a valve that gives up at the drop-off, a slow leak found at the pick-up on the Bath Road. Every part of the airport, terminals, drop-off zones and car parks, is private and patrolled, so nobody can work on a tyre there. The nearest public streets are in Harlington, Sipson and Harmondsworth.
If the tyre holds some air, drive it gently out to a residential street in Harlington or Sipson and call with the road name and the size; if it is fully flat, put the spare on or use an inflator kit, or ask airport recovery to bring the car out to that street. Once there, the fitter strips the tyre, traces the leak and says whether it is a BS AU 159 repair, a valve or bead fault, or a replacement, each priced on the phone.

A flat on Swakeleys Road or Long Lane in Ickenham needs a calm exit into the nearest side road. Switch the hazards on and get passengers standing well back from the kerb, then check whether the tyre is soft or fully down. Send us the location after that; Ickenham station is an easy landmark to give.
Found a flat on an Eastcote avenue? Check the remaining tyres too, since garden-centre gravel and stray screws can mean more than one casualty. Examine the flat: is there a nail head, a torn valve, or a graze from an Eastcote kerb? Heading for a garage along the A40 on it would ruin the casing. Any space-saver in the boot is for short, slow use only. Keep the car where it stopped, on the HA5 drive or the road outside.
