London driving hides imbalance better than most. Inner-borough streets rarely allow the speed at which a wheel starts to shake, so the fault surfaces on the quicker stretches: the A40 past Park Royal, the A406 North Circular, the A13 out through Barking, the A12 towards Redbridge, or the A3 beyond Tolworth. Speed humps and potholes knock weights off, tight parking scrapes alloys against kerbs, and any repaired or new tyre that missed the balancer shudders in just the same way.
