Tyre down on the drive in Downside or in the Ashton Square car park? Keep the car where it is; in Dunstable the fitter comes to it and decides between repair and replacement.

If it still handles safely, a short, careful drive to a side road is safer than stopping on a busy stretch. Hazard lights go on, passengers wait on the footway well back from the car, and you phone with the road name.
Before anything else, walk to each of the remaining three tyres. Then kneel beside the deflated one and search it for a perished valve, a screw in the tread, or scuffing from the High Street North turning lanes. Driving to a garage on it breaks up the lining. A space-saver can be used carefully for a short, slow trip if you are confident fitting it, though it is no tyre for the M1. Otherwise leave the car on the Icknield drive or in Ashton Square.
