If the steering starts to buzz on the Warwick Road past Tyseley, a wheel may have lost its balance. Sparkhill drivers do not need a garage for it: our van carries a balancer and weights the wheel beside the car.
On the Stratford Road through the Sparkhill shops, nobody gets up enough speed to notice a wheel out of balance. The vibration turns up later, along the A41 Warwick Road through Greet and Tyseley towards Acocks Green. The terraced streets behind the shops, parked both sides with speed cushions, knock weights off rims, and the broken surfaces on the industrial roads towards Tyseley do the same. Left alone, the wobble wears the tread in uneven patches.
The fitter parks near the car on a side street, in a shop's rear yard or by Sparkhill Park, and takes one wheel off at a time. On the van's balancer it spins, the reading shows the heavy side, and weights are fitted until it runs true. Wheels go back on and are torqued. If the tyre is damaged or the rim bent, you hear that before any balancing is done, and the price is settled when you ring.
Side streets off the Stratford Road, the roads around Sparkhill Park and the yards of units off the Warwick Road at Tyseley all work. The A34 red route and its bus lanes never do, so the car must be moved off first.

Anyone driving for a living out of Sparkhill, taxi or delivery, spends long days on the A34 and A41, so a slight tremor through the wheel tires the driver as well as the tyres. Balancing is worth doing whenever new tyres go on, after a BS AU 159 repair where the tyre was demounted from the rim, and when a pothole takes a weight with it. It is not the same as alignment, which corrects pulling and edge wear and which we do not offer.
