Sparkbrook's streets are too slow to show a balance fault, but the ring road at Camp Hill is not. When the steering trembles there, the balancer comes to your terrace off Walford Road.
Most Sparkbrook driving happens at a crawl, along Ladypool Road between restaurant deliveries or down the Stratford Road past the shops, and at that pace a wheel out of balance barely registers. The tremor appears once you are on the Middleway at Camp Hill or the wider stretch of Golden Hillock Road towards Small Heath. Kerbs are the local cause: every squeeze into a gap on Henley Street or around Farm Park risks knocking a weight off an alloy.
With the car on a terrace, the van pulls in wherever a gap allows and the kit is walked over. One wheel at a time is removed, clamped on the electronic balancer and spun; the machine points to the light and heavy sides, and the fitter places weights to even them. The wheel goes back on and each nut is torqued. Damage to the tyre or a bent rim is pointed out before balancing, and the price is given to you over the phone.
Walford Road, Henley Street, the streets around Farm Park and a restaurant's rear yard off Ladypool Road all suit. The Stratford Road red route, Ladypool Road's short bays and the Camp Hill junction do not.

Balancing is due after new tyres are fitted, after a puncture repair that meant demounting the tyre, or when vibration arrives suddenly after a kerb strike near the Balti Triangle. It cannot cure a car that pulls left down the Stratford Road or eats the inside edge of its tyres; that is alignment, a job for a garage with the equipment, since we do not offer it.
