Safe lifting needs the van on something solid and flat, such as a concrete yard in Charlton or a level drive in New Eltham; a slope on Shooters Hill or a soft verge will not do. If the load can come out, take it out. An electric van carries its battery low down and weighs more than a diesel equivalent, so the sidewall load index has to be matched exactly, and a quieter tyre is sensible for its silent cab.
