Wandsworth Road and Parry Street feed the traffic onto Vauxhall Bridge, Nine Elms Lane and Battersea Park Road run the riverside, and the A3 comes up Clapham Road from the south. Lose a tyre on any of those and there is nowhere obvious to pull in, which is why the first move is a side street or an estate entrance rather than the nearest lay by.
