Two roads do most of the work in this part of OX2, the A4165 Banbury Road and the A4144 Woodstock Road, and a tyre problem here is usually discovered on one of the streets running between them. A screw found on a morning run down to the city, a sidewall marked while reversing into a resident bay, a slow leak that has been topped up for a fortnight and finally lost patience. None of that needs the car driven off the street. A sidewall size and a street name are enough to begin.

Off-street parking at the house is the cleanest answer and covers a good share of OX2. A controlled bay outside works too when the car is properly in it. Alexandra Courts Pay and Display and Walton Well Road Car Park are the public fallbacks for a car that can be driven the short distance. Oxford station is close enough to meet at if you commute, though the station car park is not one to enter without asking first. The two arterial roads themselves are no place for a jack.

Calls come from the houses and flats along both main roads and from the quieter streets off them, from Moreton Road, and from the Marston Ferry Road end of the B4495. Parking is the deciding factor. Some of these properties have their own front parking and the job is over without anybody leaving the pavement. Others are controlled bays, and a permit bay serves perfectly well provided the car is yours to leave there and it sits inside the markings rather than half on the road. For anyone without either, Alexandra Courts Pay and Display and Walton Well Road Car Park are public and take a car that still drives. What a fitter will not do is set up on the Banbury Road or the Woodstock Road themselves.
