Getting anywhere from Forestdale means the A2022 sooner or later, whether that is Selsdon Park Road heading back towards Croydon or Kent Gate Way going out past the county edge. Both move traffic at pace, with kerbs that punish a misjudged turn, and both throw up the odd nail. Once the car is back among the closes off Gravel Hill, though, there is usually somewhere sensible to stop, and that is where the wheel comes off rather than at the roadside.

Parking courts, allocated bays and short household drives make up most of the working surfaces in Forestdale, and all three are workable provided the corner with the flat tyre is reachable. Vulcan Way Industrial Estate is close by for anyone whose work vehicle picks up a nail. The Farleigh Golf Club car park is private land. Trams at Addington Village, Fieldway and King Henry's Drive have no parking to speak of, so a car left near a stop is best given by street name. The zone charge covers this district as it does the rest of London, and a parked car has nothing to pay.
