The point of mobile fitting is that a car on a drive off Priory Road with a ruined tyre does not have to be trailered up the Hagley Road to a depot. The van carries a tyre changer that breaks the bead and mounts the new tyre, a balancer that spins the wheel and reads the weights, a compressor, a torque wrench and a range of common sizes. A campus car park, a hospital-side street or a Pebble Mill drive becomes the workshop for an hour.
Tell us the size and where the car is standing, and whether there is room beside it for the van, or whether the kit needs carrying from the road to the drive. Up on the jack, wheel off, old tyre stripped, new one fitted and balanced, refitted and torqued, then the other tyres' pressures checked. You are shown the balanced wheel and given the torque figure. The price agreed on the phone is the price at the kerb.

Space first. The fitter needs roughly a car door's width of clear ground beside the wheel in question, so the jack slides under and the wheel lifts clear. Flat ground helps; on any slope the wheels are chocked and the fitter judges it on arrival. Permit bays near the QE and campus bays work once access is agreed, provided no Edgbaston drive is blocked.
