A screw ticking in the tread on the way home through Lye at eleven does not need a new tyre. The Stourbridge fitter patches it from inside overnight, while the Junction sleeps.

Night repairs are simplest when the car is on its own drive. In Wynall, Hawne or Hayseech, leave it where it is, switch on an outside light if there is one, and the tyre is taken off, checked from the inside and repaired if the damage is in the tread. Say if the car has a locking wheel nut and where the key is kept.
