A screw from Stanstead Road found after midnight in Forest Hill or a slow leak noticed late in Putney is usually repairable, and on the South Circular that repair can happen overnight.
On streets off the A205, a small hole is a likelier cause than a wrecked tyre. A bar worker finishing in Clapham finds the tyre soft outside Clapham South station; a Dulwich parent sees the pressure warning on the drive at 11 pm; a nurse heading home to Eltham spots a screw head in the tread. A new tyre would be money wasted. What they want is a proper repair before the morning school run or shift.
The fitter comes out at night, removes the Clapham or Dulwich tyre and inspects its inside under a lamp.
