Drive the A45 from Swan Island out past Sheldon towards M42 J6 and a wheel out of balance soon shows through the steering. In Yardley the balancer is brought to your drive.
Yardley straddles the Coventry Road, the district's route to the airport and the M42, and it is on that open run through Sheldon that an unbalanced wheel becomes obvious. Closer to home the causes are everyday: tight Hay Mills terraces where a kerb takes a weight off, the stone kerbing beside St Edburgha's church in the old village, and potholes on the wide Sheldon estate roads. Uneven, blotchy tread wear on one tyre is a sign it has gone on too long.
Most Yardley jobs suit the drive: semis in South Yardley and Sheldon give the van room to stop alongside. Each wheel comes off, goes on the balancer, spins, and receives weights where the reading shows it needs them. It is then refitted and torqued before the next. If the Swan centre car park is easier, an ordinary bay is fine. Any damage found on a tyre is shown to you first, and the cost is agreed on the call.
Drives in South Yardley and Sheldon, streets off Church Road and a normal bay in the Swan shopping centre car park all work. The A45 red route, the Swan Island underpass and the narrow lanes by the old village church do not.

Balancing belongs with fresh tyres, with a tyre put back on after a puncture repair, and with any weight lost on a Hay Mills kerb. If the car tugs sideways along the Coventry Road, or chews the edge of its front tyres, that is an alignment issue instead, and alignment needs a garage because we do not do it.
