A steering wheel that shivers on the Bordesley Green East run towards the hospital usually traces back to an out-of-balance wheel. The retail park car park or your own drive gives the fitter room to work.

The causes are local and ordinary: tight kerbside parking around Station Road and Albert Road, where alloys brush the kerb, and estate road kerbs in Glebe Farm and Lea Village that can flick a weight off.
Driveways at Glebe Farm and Lea Village make easy work of it, and the wide parking area off Flaxley Parkway is just as good. Each wheel is removed and mounted on the balancing machine inside our van, spun until the reading shows where extra weight belongs, then corrected and checked. The wheel is refitted with its nuts torqued. On the Station Road terraces the fitter carries wheels a few doors. Stechford callers are quoted before we come out.
Glebe Farm and Lea Village drives suit best, and so do the open bays at the retail park or a space beside the station. Stechford Lane itself, an Outer Circle bus route, leaves no room for the work.

Balancing is right when new tyres go on, after a puncture repair has had the tyre off, when a weight is visibly missing, or when tread wears in patches.
