Mobile tyre fitting
in Mayfair.

Most Mayfair cars live down a ramp, in a basement under an office or a hotel, or on a mews behind Park Lane. Rescue Tyres works on the tyre down there, beside the car, seven days a week.

Tyre trouble in Mayfair?

A fitter at your car
in Mayfair.

W1J and W1K have almost no ordinary kerbside parking left, so a car that has picked something up is nearly always stationary before the owner notices. A soft tyre found on a Monday morning in a basement bay. A wheel that met the edge of a loading ramp. A slow leak after a run along Piccadilly. None of it can be driven off to a garage without the car paying to move, so the wheel comes off where it already stands.

What we do in Mayfair

Tyre work in Mayfair.

Replacement tyres are ordered against the exact marking on the sidewall, and W1 cars often run on run-flat and low profile fitments, so that marking matters more here than in most places. A nail in the tread is drawn out once the wheel is off, and the repair goes on the inner face, within the area BS AU 159 permits. A tyre torn open is replaced and the bare rim examined first. Locking nuts come off without their key. Night and weekend callouts go through the same line.

Repairs follow BS AU 159; the legal minimum tread is 1.6mm (GOV.UK).

Mayfair sits within our mobile tyre fitting across Westminster, and the same base and phone line cover both.

Where we work in Mayfair

Drives, bays and car parks.

A numbered space down in the building's car park is the normal arrangement, and the concierge or the car park office has to know a van is expected, because the height barrier at the head of the ramp decides whether it gets down at all. Where there is no space of your own, Carrington Street and Barlow Place will take a car that still drives, with room to lift a wheel out. A mews forecourt is ideal. The kerb on Park Lane is not, and neither is any bay too tight to pass a wheel.

Cover takes in the offices and hotels between Bond Street and Green Park, the blocks on the Park Lane side, and the mews yards tucked behind the main streets. The usable surface is nearly always private ground: a bay under an office block, a mews forecourt, or one of the public car parks this district does have, Carrington Street, Barlow Place and The Mayfair Car Park among them, with Q-Park Marble Arch at the northern end. Park Lane, Cumberland Gate and the Knightsbridge run down to Hyde Park Corner are through routes where nothing may stand, and Edgware Road is no different. Both the ULEZ and the Congestion Charge apply across W1, and both bill a vehicle for moving.

Nights and weekends

24 hours in Mayfair.

A late call out of Mayfair might come from hotel night staff finding a guest's car down on one corner before an early departure, or a driver back to a basement after an evening out. Somebody takes the call at whatever hour it comes in, checks the sidewall size, and puts the price to you before anybody drives over.

Mayfair FAQs

Questions from Mayfair.

Can the van get down the ramp into a basement car park in W1J?
Height decides it. Give the building, which level and which space when you ring, and let the car park office know somebody is coming, because most of these ramps have a barrier across them and an attendant has to lift it for a van.
Which public car parks in Mayfair can I meet you at?
Carrington Street and Barlow Place both sit inside the district, The Mayfair Car Park is a short run from either, and Q-Park Marble Arch covers the northern edge. Any of the four leaves enough space to take a wheel off properly. Name the level you end up on.
Does the Congestion Charge add anything to what I pay?
Nothing whatsoever. That charge falls on vehicles being driven inside the zone during its hours, and your car is not being driven. Taking it out of W1 yourself on a damaged tyre is the thing that would cost you, and it risks the rim as well.
A wheel caught a kerb turning off Park Lane. Is the tyre repairable?
It depends where the damage landed. Splits and bulges on a sidewall cannot be mended under any standard, and a run-flat driven while deflated goes the same way. Something that went through the tread's central strip is different, and that usually takes a repair from inside.
