Wood Farm makes most of its own tyre work on the street rather than out on the road. The common one is a slow puncture, found as a soft tyre in the morning and topped up for a week before anyone rings. Sharper damage arrives from Hollow Way, or from the Eastern By-pass Road where a rim takes a knock hard enough to break the bead. Either way the car stays put: send the size from the sidewall with the OX3 street and the correct tyre is aboard well before a van leaves the Brent Cross base.

The best surface here is a hardstanding, and a fair share of Wood Farm addresses have one. A marked bay off the estate roads does the job when nothing is parked tight against the car. Oxford Retail Park and Templars Shopping Park give flat tarmac and room to swing a wheel off, with your ticket running as normal. An estate yard on Horspath Road or at City Works takes a van when the site knows a fitter is due. What cannot be used is the A4142 itself, or Hollow Way with the traffic running past the door.

Calls come from the roads around The Slade, from the Slade Park side and from Town Furze, with Headington Quarry and Risinghurst adding a few more. The estate roads are among the easier ground in OX3 to work on, because a good number of homes have a bay or a hardstanding of their own and the through traffic keeps to the B4495. Where a car sits on the street, what decides the job is the gap in front of it rather than the road itself. Further out, working vehicles go down on site at the Shotover Trading Estate, at City Works and on the Horspath Road Industrial Estate, while Oxford Retail Park and Templars Shopping Park both offer surfaces a jack can sit on.
