Bromley Road is the reason most tyres fail around here. The A21 runs north into Catford and south towards Bromley, heavy all day, and what it drops gets picked up by everything turning off it into Southend Lane and Beckenham Hill Road. The South Circular a little further up adds its own share, so the supply of screws never dries up. None of those are roads to stop on. Pull into a residential turning, ring with the size and the postcode, and the tyre arrives at the car.

Drives take priority, the car being off the road entirely and out of everybody's way. A side street off Southend Lane or Perry Hill is the next best, parked square, not on a bend and not across a dropped kerb. The retail park and Thomas Lane Car Park both give room to work when the car is driveable. What will not do is the A21, the A205, or the A2218 at its busier points, where a car on a jack would be standing in live traffic.

Bell Green Retail Park sits close enough to work as a rendezvous while a car can still move, with the operator's agreement. Thomas Lane Car Park is the other option, and any ticket needs to stay valid while the work is done. On the residential side, most addresses have either a drive or a street wide enough to work at the kerb. Bromley Road, Catford Road and Sangley Road are all no-stopping through routes.
