Sydenham is a working high street with a lot of stopping and starting on it, and tyres take the punishment. A kerb gets clipped along Sydenham Road, wheels get scuffed reversing into tight spaces off Dartmouth Road, and the A213 towards Penge adds its own share of debris. A trip to a workshop means giving up the parking space you have just found. A fitter coming to the car means keeping it, and the job happens in that space.

A drive is the easy one, and the hillside streets above the high street have plenty of them. Otherwise a resident bay on a side road off Kirkdale or Newlands Park, where the car can remain exactly as it is for the duration, since nothing can be moved once a wheel is off. Perry Vale Car Park is public and open enough to work in. Forest Hill Station Carpark belongs to the railway, so a van setting up there depends on the operator agreeing. The A212 and A213 through routes are usable at no point.

The spread of calls here is wide: flats and terraces off Kirkdale and Dartmouth Road, the streets running down to Lower Sydenham, the Crystal Palace end of Westwood Hill, and three industrial estates, Clyde Vale, Franklin and Hamilton Road, where working vehicles need a tyre sorted without losing a day. Bell Green Retail Park is a practical place to meet while the car is still able to move, provided you park well away from the entrance lanes and the operator has no objection. Sydenham Road itself is too busy to jack a car on, and much of the residential parking near the station is controlled, so say as much when the car is on a permit bay. SE26 is inside the ULEZ, billed on movement alone, so a stationary car pays none of it.
