Two tunnels start within half a mile of here, which shapes the tyre work. Traffic queueing for the Blackwall Tunnel and the Silvertown Tunnel grinds along the A102 and A1026 approaches, picks up whatever is lying in the lane, and the driver only finds out once the car is parked again. The rest is the usual island pattern: short trips, long stands, and a tyre that has been soft for days. Nobody needs to drive anywhere on it. Give the address and the sidewall size.

Drives, bays and car parks.

A bay in the building's own car park is the first choice, provided the concierge is content and the ramp will take a van; say what the height barrier reads. Failing that, a resident bay on the street outside is fine, with the car parked square so there is room on the offside. Lawn House Close has a car park with space in it. The pre-booked arena car parks across the water are not available to walk-ups, and the commuter-only station parking is no use either.

Calls here come from the riverside blocks along Manchester Road, from the streets around Crossharbour and South Quay, and from the newer buildings up towards Prestons Road and Blackwall. Most of that parking is allocated and gated, on a deck or underground, so the building name, the level and the barrier height matter more than the street does. Resident bays on the surface are the alternative and work perfectly well. What is out of bounds is anything on the tunnel approaches: the A102 and the A1026 have no safe margin, and stopping there is not an option at any hour. Tower Hamlets sits inside the ULEZ but outside the Congestion Charge zone, and neither charge touches a car that is sitting on a jack.
