Most punctures in SL9 are collected on the A413. It is the road everybody here uses, Amersham one way and Gerrards Cross the other, and it carries enough traffic to be behind a good many of the calls. What normally happens is that the tyre holds long enough to get home, then sits down overnight on the drive. That is a straightforward job: quote the markings moulded into the sidewall and the replacement comes out on the van.

Driveways carry nearly all of it, and a gravel or block paved one is fine as long as the jack gets a board under it. A private forecourt works with the owner's permission, which is worth asking for rather than assuming, since none of the parking around the shops here is public. Grass verges are not a surface at all: one gives way the moment weight goes on. Neither is the A413 carriageway, at any hour and in any weather.

The village sits either side of the A413, with Kingsway and the roads off it holding much of the housing, and the calls follow that shape. Drives are the usual surface and most properties have one, which is fortunate, because the centre has nothing public to offer: the parking near the shops belongs to the businesses it serves, so there is no municipal car park to send a stranded driver to. A trunk route with no working room beside it, the A413 Amersham Road is out, and the same goes for the stretch of Kingsway nearest the junction. Gerrards Cross station is a little over a mile down the road for anyone whose car is parked there instead, and Chalfont St Giles, Jordans and Horn Hill sit within two miles on the same round.
