Before booking a locking nut removal anywhere in the city, ask whether the car can wait for a replacement key. If it cannot, or the nut itself is ruined, the nut is removed at the car with care for the alloy.

Birmingham's Clean Air Zone covers the roads inside the A4540 Middleway ring road and has charged since 1 June 2021. It is a charge for driving a non-compliant vehicle in the zone, not for a parked car.
In the city centre, the car parks at the Bullring, Grand Central, Snow Hill and Moor Street are private ground, so the owner's permission comes first. Otherwise a legal space on a side street is what the fitter needs.
Further out, a drive or a residential street in Edgbaston, Harborne, Moseley, Kings Heath, Hall Green, Erdington, Northfield or any other district gives the fitter level ground and room at the wheel.
We never work on the carriageway of a motorway or main road, on a hard shoulder, in a smart motorway emergency area or on a slip road. That includes the Aston Expressway and the Middleway itself.

Every wheel nut is tightened to the maker's setting with a torque wrench. It is good practice to have the nuts checked again after the first short drive following any wheel work, as alloy wheels can settle slightly.
If you want locking nuts again, a new set can be fitted later. Keep the new key in the glovebox and note the key code somewhere outside the car, such as on your phone, so a replacement key can be ordered if it goes missing.
