The yards off Wellhead Lane and the streets behind One Stop are full of working vehicles. Load-rated covers come to them there, or to a Perry Beeches drive, and go on at the kerb.
B42 sets a lot of vans moving each morning: depot shifts around Wellhead Lane, multi-drop rounds squeezed through the Birchfield terraces, tradesmen leaving Booths Farm and Perry Village for junction 7. What marks them out is the weight they carry. Load a van up and every sidewall works harder, so clipping a kerb at the One Stop junction or finding a hole on the Aldridge Road costs far more than it would a car.
Check the markings before dialling. On a commercial cover a C follows the size, 215/60 R17C as an example, then the load figure, printed as a pair where a van carries four wheels at the back, and a speed letter last. Vans built off a car platform sometimes use XL rubber in place of C. Give us the string, or the plate alone, and what reaches Perry Barr meets those figures or goes beyond, balanced and set to the pillar pressures.

Lifting is the part that needs thought. Something solid and level has to be under the jack: yard surface off Wellhead Lane, a Booths Farm drive, the One Stop tarmac. A cambered Birchfield kerb or a soft verge is no good at all. Empty the back down a bit if it is stacked high. An electric van brings battery weight of its own, so the rating on the cover coming off is the least we will fit.
