Shenley sits in Hertsmere, with Radlett down one way and Ridge across the fields the other. Tyres here collect their damage on lanes rather than on trunk roads: the B5378 comes through the village as London Road and leaves it as Green Street, while Woodhall Lane and Black Lion Hill do the rest. The nearest motorway is the M25 at The Bell, under two miles off. Tell the fitter the postcode and read out the sidewall markings, so the right tyre is already in the van.

These are houses and small closes, almost all with off-street parking, and a drive is where the great majority of this work is done. Shenley has no public car park, so nobody is being asked to sit in the middle of the village and wait: if the car still rolls, Colney Fields Shopping Park towards the M25 has open surface bays. Black Lion Hill and the pinched part of Woodhall Lane give a jack nowhere to stand, and the Tesco Express frontage is no better. No clean air charge of any sort reaches into Hertfordshire.
