Much of Radford parks on the road, so a tyre problem usually shows itself outside the front door: a car sitting low one morning, or a pressure warning on the short run into town. The run itself does its share of the damage, down Radford Road to Ringway St Nicholas or along Holyhead Road towards the A4053, both carrying a steady load of trade traffic. Radford callers mostly live along the side streets branching off Radford Road, out towards Daimler Green, or on the Holyhead Road side that edges into Coundon and Spon End. Postcodes are split: CV6 for most of the district and CV1 for the part nearest the city centre. Where a house has a drive, the job happens on it. Plenty have none, so the car is done at the kerb, parked square, with a clear strip on the traffic side where the fitter can kneel. The A4053 ring road is out entirely, since its junctions come thick and close and nobody stops on it. Radford Road takes a constant flow into town, so a car that stops on it is better rolled into a side street at walking pace before the wheel comes off.
