The A507 is where a good share of Henlow tyres get hurt. It carries lorries and through traffic across this part of Bedfordshire, and whatever falls off them ends up in somebody's tread. Calls come from the houses along the High Street and Hitchin Road, from Newtown and Church End, and from the working side of the village: Henlow Industrial Estate and ACO Business Park, where vans and lorries pick up most of the damage. Commuters who drive to Arlesey station make up another share. On home ground the drive is the natural choice. Henlow Recreation Ground has parking, handy for meeting up if the car can still roll that far. The A507 carriageway is not suitable for any work at all, and neither is the High Street kerb when traffic is squeezing past. Henlow lies outside every clean-air zone, so the car can be driven to the job without a charge.
