The hills are what catch people out. Cars come down Cat Hill and Brookhill Road into the village, and a wheel clipped against a kerb on the way in may already be leaking by the time the car is parked outside the shops. Drives take most of the jobs. Where there is none, East Barnet has something many of its neighbours lack, which is real public parking: the free car park in the village and the Oak Hill Park car park both give a fitter room to swing a wheel clear without anyone standing in traffic, and the Prince of Wales car park is another option. Cat Hill and the roundabout at the top are the two spots to avoid, since traffic funnels through both and there is nowhere to stand clear.
