Wheel damage up here nearly always comes from somewhere else. The A3 is on the doorstep as Robin Hood Way and Beverley Way, and something lifted off that carriageway will often stay hidden until the car is home again and one tyre is visibly down. Coombe Lane West and the flyover carry the same traffic at speed. The advantage of the address is that there is space to deal with it, so the car stays put and the fitter arrives with the size it takes.

A private drive is the best working space on this patch, level, off the road and clear of traffic, which is why so little of the work here happens at a kerb. Where a car sits on a shared or unadopted road, the fitter needs room down one side and a surface that will not sink under a jack, so loose gravel or chippings are worth mentioning on the call. Verges along Coombe Lane West are no use, and nothing at all gets done on the A3 or its slip roads.

Most of Coombe is large houses on private roads in KT2, with SW20 and KT3 edges towards Raynes Park and New Malden and a strip of SW15 up by Kingston Vale. That means gates, long approaches and the odd entry code, so it is worth saying on the phone whether the van can be brought right up to the car or has to be left at the entrance. Traps Lane and Coombe Road are the ordinary through routes for everyone else. Stopping is banned outright along the A3 itself, so a tyre that lets go there means leaving at Coombe Lane West or Kingston Vale and parking properly before anybody touches it. Norbiton and New Malden stations are the nearest platforms, both a drive away.
