Canley produces two kinds of tyre call. There are commuters who walk back to Canley station and find a wheel sitting on its rim, and vans working out of Burnsall Road and Charter Avenue whose tyres pick up screws and offcuts on site. Traffic on the A45 Fletchamstead Highway and the Kenpas Highway adds its own share of damage. Either way, the size and location are passed over by phone, the tyre is loaded in north London, and the change happens wherever the vehicle is.

Drives, bays and car parks.

At home, a drive or the parking space beside the house. By the station, a legal space in the car park with room either side of the car, not the drop-off loop. On the estates, a yard or forecourt, with the unit told in advance. The Aldi car park can suit a car that is still driveable, parked at a quiet edge away from the trolley bays. Nothing on the A45 carriageway, its verges or its lay-bys is usable, however quiet the traffic looks.

Canley splits between the housing either side of the station and a belt of industry: Burnsall Road and Charter Avenue industrial estates sit close by, with Earl Place and Coventry Business Park a little further out. Postcodes are mostly CV4, with CV3 and CV5 at the fringes towards Green Lane and Earlsdon. Residents generally have a drive or a space in front of the house, which gives the fitter the easiest ground of all. On the estates, a unit forecourt or a yard is fine once the occupier agrees. The Fletchamstead Highway itself is off limits, along with its lay-bys and the slips onto the Kenpas Highway, because a raised car there sits alongside heavy traffic. Canley station is the other regular meeting point, for anyone who drove in and caught a train.
